A surreal blend of house and techno bursting with ear candy. Created in the tension between synthetic and organic, Sciotech is a digital regurgitation of the sounds of nature -- meticulously sculpted with a background in mathematics and engineering to an otherworldly level of detail and precision.
About
The Name
Scionaugh combines the Latin scio -- "to know" -- with naught, meaning nothing. To know nothing. It is a philosophy of radical curiosity and a permanent beginner's mindset, chosen deliberately in 2016 to counteract the perfectionism that had previously stopped the work from ever leaving the hard drive. The name became a commitment: release music not because it is perfect, but because the idea is finished and it is time to move on to the next one.
Raised on the Mornington Peninsula, he found psytrance young and never looked back -- drawn first to the music, then to the community of like-minded people gathered in the bush under open sky. That sense of belonging, and that deep connection with nature, runs through everything he makes.
He started making music in early 2016 with a single goal -- to create the sounds he could hear in his head for that dancefloor. He has been performing live since early 2017. Ten years with Ableton Live, informed by an academic background in electrical engineering and astrophysics, gives his production a technical precision that sits beneath the surface without announcing itself. That same rigour carries into his teaching: sharing knowledge is not separate from the creative process but part of it. Learning and teaching form a continuous loop -- each one feeding the other, both feeding the music.
Over the course of his career, Scionaugh has played some of Australia's most prominent psytrance and electronic music festivals, earning a reputation as a reliable and distinctive voice on the dancefloor. That reach has extended well beyond Australia, with performances across multiple continents and a growing international following. His recorded output spans an extensive and eclectic discography across labels on six continents, each release a document of where the sound was at that moment. Taken together, they trace a journey of genuine curiosity and restless experimentation rather than a calculated path to a fixed destination.
